Foamglas Insulation Systems for Ducts

Water Treatment

Water reservoirs

The main function of thermal insulation inside water reservoirs is to prevent condensation under its concrete roof. Excessive condensation can lead to an impairment of the water quality by germs.

The durable FOAMGLAS® insulation system is the preeminent solution for this kind of applications.

  • Impermeable to moisture and does not deteriorate with age, ensuring that the insulation values remain constant during the entire life span of the water reservoir.
  • Practical to build on because it doesn't allow deformation and has a high compressive strength.
  • Resistant to infestation of rodents, microorganisms and the penetration of roots and humic acids.
  • Prevents condensation and thereby precludes the possibility of corrosion, structural damage to the concrete, fungus and the development of other germs that could contribute to the contamination of the drinking water.

Water digesters

It's impossible to imagine the water cycle in our current industrial society without the presence of waste water treatment facilities. Modern waste water treatment plants provide biological and chemical methods for a virtually residue-free cleaning of waste water.

Inside the water digester, waste sludge is exposed to microorganisms generating energy rich gas. Energy from these gases is used to promote the process by heating the sludge inside the digester, and to provide supplemental heat for the rest of the processing facility. To obtain an optimal digestion process, it is required to have a constant temperature of 35 – 40 °C inside of the reservoir. At temperatures below 35 °C, the biological process that kills the bacteria is slowed down. Therefore, it is essential to have a constant and permanent functional insulation like FOAMGLAS® insulation to maintain the temperature inside the digester.

Digestion processes will result in the destruction of disease-causing microorganisms and parasites to a sufficient level to allow the resulting digested solids to be safely applied to land. They can be used either as a soil amendment material or used for agriculture as a fertilizer provided that levels of toxic constituents are sufficiently low.
